Before we dive into Nicole’s art and life story, let’s briefly touch upon the history of ACEOs. The acronym stands for Art Cards, Editions & Originals. They refer to original artworks or prints that are 2.5″ x 3.5″ inches in size, the standard size of a sports trading card. ACEO was first coined by an artist named Lisa Luree, who started selling them on eBay in 2004.

As opposed to full-size art, ACEOs are a lot more affordable and much easier to store or display. You can keep them in photo albums or sports card holders and frames. They have made it accessible to anyone to start their own art collection. A lot of original ACEO art also appreciates in value if the artist is sought after.

Today, ACEOs are so collectable and popular that all major art stores carry blank ACEO cards on their shelves.

Nicole Wong is an illustrator and ACEO artist based in Fall River, Massachusetts. Born to parents who were artists, she naturally inherited their passion and had ambitions to be an illustrator early in life. Amazingly, she got her first freelance illustration gig when she was only 12 years old! later in life she also obtained a BFA degree from the Rhode Island School of Design.

At the time of writing, Nicole has illustrated more than twenty children’s books, including artwork for the biggest publishers such as Houghton-Mifflin, Pearson and McGraw-Hill. Our favorites are The Hugging Tree (a story about resilience) and her latest offering Kiyoshi’s Walk (about poetry and grandparental love).
